The Cost of a Book City Franchise

To establish a new Book City Franchise store, the following costs are involved:

Franchise Establishment Fee - $30,000 plus GST ( GST component claimable as input credit)

- This is payable with an initial deposit of $10,000 to secure the Franchise location with the balance of $20,000.00 payable 60 days prior to opening;

Fixtures and fittings (approximately) $150,000 - $200,000

- The cost of fixtures and fittings varies from store to store depending on the size and shape of the store. The average store size is between 100sqM and 150sqM with fit-out costs ranging from $150,000 to $200,000. Most Franchisees choose to lease these rather than pay for a full up-front cost.

Stock (full range) $100,000 - $120,000

- Initial stock varies depending on the size of the store and the time of opening. For example, an average size store opening around the Christmas period may open with up to $150,000 in stock. However, the same store opening in February - June would open with $100,000. Opening stock is payable between 30 - 60 days from opening.

Legal costs and working capital $30,000
